Stationary Engineer I Inova Health System parental leave, paid time off United States, Virginia, Fairfax Jun 03, 2026 Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Stationary Engineer 1 to join the team. This role will be full-time 40 hours weekly working various night shifts as needed by the department, schedules are made 1 month in advance. Job Responsibilities:
Changes and disposes of chemical drums properly and uses proper safety equipment. Performs chemical analysis tests and adds the correct amount of chemicals to keep a prescribed balance in boilers, cooling towers and closed loop systems. Assists in the repair or maintenance of plant equipment; Cleans and paints equipment, piping and associated accessories in Power Plant and mechanical rooms. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and performs safety checks on plant equipment. Cleans and paints equipment, piping and associated accessories in Power Plant and mechanical rooms. Responds to plant emergencies swiftly, contacts appropriate proper personnel, and operates fire fighting equipment. Performs chemical analysis tests and adds the correct amount of chemicals to keep a prescribed balance in boilers, cooling towers and closed loop systems. Wears appropriate safety equipment and complies with departmental and OSHA safety policies at all times. Keeps personal work spaces and equipment in a safe and orderly working condition. Follows hospital infection control procedures and policies at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; Technical training in maintenance field.
Experience:
2 years of experience as an operating engineer or in a related field; Strong background in HVAC, Mechanics; Prior experience with operating boilers, generators and/or conducting mechanical maintenance; military experience.
Certification:
Obtain Low Pressure Steam Certification within 12 months of hire
