Job Description

At Valley Institute of Prosthetics & Orthotics (VIPO), we are dedicated to restoring mobility and improving the quality of life for our patients. We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented individual to join our clinical support team as an Orthotic Fitter . The Orthotic Fitter plays a crucial role in patient care by fitting, adjusting, and delivering prefabricated orthotic devices (such as knee braces, spinal orthoses, walking boots, and compression garments) under the supervision of our certified clinicians. This is a fantastic entry point into the O&P (Prosthetics & Orthotics) field. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assists Physician in formulation of detailed prescription. Examines and evaluates patient's needs in relation to disease and functional loss. Formulates design of orthopedic device and selects materials and components. Selects materials, making cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts. Performs fitting, including static and dynamic alignments. Evaluates appliance on patient and adjusts assure fit, function, and quality of work. Instructs patient in use of orthotic devices Maintains accurate and thorough documentation per ABC requirements in each patient's record. Maximizes use of OPIE forms to optimize thorough documentation and facilitate ordering, authorizations, delivery, and billing process. Meets with medical reps and vendors to learn about new products and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate Medical Assistant Certificate Strong ethical and moral character references Strong computer skills Clinical office experience Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and medical terminology is required Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required; relationship building that support collaborative work within the clinic and provide exceptional customer service Able to efficiently and effectively document in EMR system Proper inventory management Able to work in a high-volume environment with attention to detail, able to triage Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time Able to push, pull, squat, twist, turn, lift, bend, stoop and reach overhead Must work occasional on-call weekends, which are compensated Ability to develop good interpersonal relationships with patients, staff and other healthcare providers and the ability to work with patients in a hospital or office setting
Preferred Requirements:
Certified Athletic Trainer, CA Athletic Trainer License, Certified Orthotic Fitter, Certified, current certification as an Orthopedic Tech or Registered Medical Assistant or comparable medical certification 2 years of fitting of soft goods and bracing in a clinical environment 1-2 years previous healthcare experience Bilingual (English/Spanish) VIPO offers: Competitive Pay (based on experience) Paid training ABC Certification Medical, Dental, and Vision plans available 401K Matching Plan PTO, Sick Time and Paid Holidays Opportunities for internal career advancement in a growing and competitive industry
