Start times vary between 2:00 PM, 2:30 PM, and 3:00 PM End times vary between 10:30 PM, 11:00 PM, and 11:30 PM Overview We're seeking a skilled Tooling Technician to support tool grinding, sharpening, fabrication, and basic tool‑making activities. This role operates lathes, mills, and grinders to produce, repair, or modify tools used in the production process. Ideal candidates are detail‑oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with precision equipment. What You'll Do Operate lathes, mills, and grinders to cut, sharpen, bore, grind, repair, or manufacture tools made from metal or plastic materials. Inspect, fabricate, and finish tools using visual inspection, microscopes, micrometers, automated measuring instruments, chamfering, buffing, polishing, and other finishing techniques. Read and interpret technical drawings. Perform basic machine maintenance and follow housekeeping procedures. Complete additional duties as assigned to support production needs. Maintain strong attendance and punctuality standards. Position Levels Level I
- Entry Level Learns procedures for cutting, sharpening, and basic tool‑making tasks. Level II
- Intermediate Experienced in tool cutting, sharpening, and tool‑making processes. Level III
- Advanced Performs advanced tool‑making, demonstrates troubleshooting skills, and trains others. Level IV
- Master Level Expert in troubleshooting, supports engineering with new tool designs, and establishes tool‑making methods.
What You Bring Ability to interpret written and verbal instructions. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Advanced math skills and strong understanding of measurement techniques. Ability to work with micro‑machining tolerances (e.g., ±0.0002). Effective communication skills in English. Education & Experience High School Diploma required. Experience in tool grinding or tool making preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods and walk throughout the facility. Ability to occasionally exert push force up to 50 lbs. Good eyesight and hand dexterity. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
