In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, jigs and fixtures used in various production processes. Your expertise will ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative manufacturing solutions and work with cutting-edge equipment in a fast-paced environment. Duties Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models to develop accurate tooling solutions using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Operate and set up electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment for complex metal fabrication tasks requiring high precision. Fabricate tooling parts through welding, grinding, machining, and EDM. Conduct inspections of finished tools utilizing precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure adherence to specifications. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on tooling equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop tooling and fixturing that supports automatic screw machines, CNC lathes and mills and other production equipment. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure dimensional accuracy of machined parts. Maintain detailed records of tool fabrication processes, inspections, repairs, and modifications. Ability to manage time to develop and produce new tooling as well as maintain and repair existing tooling as needed. Qualifications Proven experience as a Toolmaker or in a similar manufacturing role with a strong background in machining and fabrication. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD for designing tooling components. Knowledge in CNC programming and operation of CNC milling machines and CNC lathes. Proficiency with manual tool room equipment, grinders, knee mills, manual lathes, braising and welding. Proficiency of electrical discharge machining (EDM) for complex tooling and production. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints. Experience with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measurement tools. Ability to work with hand tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery safely and effectively. Familiarity with GD&T standards for ensuring part accuracy within manufacturing tolerances. Excellent math skills for precise measurements and calculations related to tool design and fabrication. Effective problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment.
