Executive Director, External Affairs (Congressional Relations) [ About KIPEC ] The Korea Inter-Parliamentary Exchange Center (KIPEC), based in Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening legislative engagement and mutual understanding between the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and the United States Congress. KIPEC facilitates policy dialogue, legislative exchange, and strategic engagement among lawmakers, congressional staff, and policy communities in both countries. [ Position Overview ] KIPEC is seeking an Executive Director of External Affairs to lead its congressional engagement efforts in Washington, D.C. This is a senior-level role focused on building and maintaining strong relationships on Capitol Hill, facilitating engagement with Members of Congress and senior staff, and supporting meaningful legislative dialogue between the Republic of Korea and the United States. The Executive Director will play a key role in establishing and managing multiple channels of engagement between the National Assembly of Korea and the U.S. Congress, while expanding KIPEC's network across Capitol Hill and the broader policy community. [ Key Responsibilities ] Develop and execute KIPEC's congressional engagement strategy Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress, senior congressional staff, and key policy stakeholders Facilitate communication and engagement between the National Assembly of Korea and U.S. congressional offices Expand KIPEC's network across Capitol Hill, relevant committees, think tanks, and policy institutions Provide insights on U.S. legislative developments relevant to Korea-U.S. relations Support the planning and execution of high-level events, briefings, and policy discussions [ Qualifications ] Candidates should meet all of the following qualifications: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents are eligible to apply At least 5 years of experience in congressional affairs, government relations, public policy, or a related field Demonstrated ability to engage with U.S. congressional offices and maintain an active professional network on Capitol Hill Familiarity with the U.S. legislative process and political environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications (Optional) Experience working on Capitol Hill (e.g., congressional office or committee staff) Experience in think tanks, public policy institutions, or government relations roles Familiarity with Korea-U.S. relations or related policy areas [ Compensation and Work Arrangement ] Compensation is expected to range from $130,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
