Tool & Model Maker Location:
North Side of Chicago, IL Pay:
$30-$42/hour +
Sign-On Bonus Type:
Direct Hire My name is Erik, and I work with Sterling Engineering. We are partnered with a well-established, 100+ year manufacturing company on the North Side of Chicago that is looking to add Tool & Model Makers to their team on a direct hire basis. This organization is known for its precision manufacturing capabilities and supports a range of high-spec, technical industries. They offer a stable environment with modern equipment, a strong engineering presence, and consistent investment into their operations.
Position Overview:
As a Tool & Model Maker, you will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining complex tooling, fixtures, and models used in precision manufacturing processes. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, blueprint interpretation, and the ability to work with tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities:
Build, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, jigs, and models Interpret detailed blueprints, CAD drawings, and specifications Operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders) Perform precision measurements and ensure tight tolerances are met Troubleshoot tooling issues and support production teams Collaborate with engineering on design improvements and manufacturability
Qualifications:
