Tool Room Machinist Apprentice Company Description Custom Aluminum Products, a large custom aluminum extrusion manufacturer with locations in South Elgin and Genoa, IL is accepting applications for a 1st shift tool room machinist apprentice for our Genoa, IL location. This 3-year paid schooling program is a great opportunity for someone looking for a career in manufacturing. You will attend classes at TMA (Technology & Manufacturing Association in Schaumburg) and work for us. You will study Tool & Die Manufacturing, Mold Making, CNC Programming and Metal Fabrication. After graduation, journeyman wage ranges $30 plus an hour. Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to: The Machinist is to fabricate and repair parts, tooling and fixtures as required.
- Read drawings and machine parts to print.
- Make parts as instructed per tool room manager.
- Make sure jobs are done properly in a timely fashion.
- Ensure safety of self and others in tooling department.
- Design new tooling for new customers as required to their standards.
- Make new tooling and parts for customers to improve efficiency.
- Monitor condition of all tooling and repair or fabricate new if necessary.
- Comply with organization's Safety Policy, health practices and procedures
