You will translate part drawings into real-world tooling—building and repairing jigs, fixtures, dies, machine and cutting tools, and gauges that keep production moving. In our job‑shop environment, you may alternate between toolmaking and production machining as priorities shift. What you'll do Interpret blueprints and apply precision measurement (calipers, micrometers) to make or modify tooling for both legacy and new part prints. Sharpen tools, verify toolholders are serviceable, and return them to storage in ready‑to‑run condition. Repair or submit requisitions for replacement parts, tooling, and hardware to maintain adequate stock levels. Check tooling in and out of the toolroom, maintaining traceability and order. Set up and run toolroom equipment (including lathes) to produce form tools, taps, drills, and holders; perform grinding as required. Assemble setup kits for any machine as needed to support efficient changeovers. Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, amounts, dimensions, and material flow. What you bring Heading experience in the fastener industry preferred. Working knowledge of
IATF 16949.
Clear, calm communication with supervisors, peers, and direct reports—by phone, in writing, email, and in person—even under pressure. Strong prioritization and organization; able to move quickly from task to task with minimal errors or omissions.
Deductive reasoning:
apply general rules to specific problems to arrive at sound solutions. Ability to adjust machine parameters as noted above and perform basic maintenance on heading equipment. Proficiency reading blueprints and using calipers and micrometers. Commitment to OSHA and company safety guidelines. Where you'll work This role is based entirely onsite in a single location, partnering closely with production to keep tooling reliable and available.
