The Tool & Die Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of stamping dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures. This role ensures all tooling is kept in optimal condition to support production demands and reduce downtime. Responsibilities (This section is not inclusive. Other duties may be assigned as necessary). Diagnose and repair issues in progressive, transfer, and/or line dies. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and dies to ensure reliable operation. Troubleshoot tool performance issues and make necessary adjustments or modifications. Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble tooling components. Operate various machining equipment (grinders, mills, lathes, EDM, etc.) for die repair or modification. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new tooling projects and improvements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Qualifications and Skills High School Diploma or equivalent. Journeymen Tool & Die Makers must have 40 college credits and/or 8000 hours of on-the-job experience 3+ years of experience in tool and die maintenance or equivalent field. Proficiency in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and tool design schematics. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with machining and precision tools. Familiarity with CNC and EDM equipment is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 lbs regularly. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders or platforms. Manual dexterity to operate tools, machines, and small parts. Visual acuity to inspect fine details of tooling components. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, grease, and temperature fluctuations. Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, gloves, Kevlar sleeves, and hearing protection.
