POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Tool & Die Foreman (1st Shift) to lead tool room operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for supervising die construction and tryout teams, managing workloads, ensuring quality and safety standards, and maintaining production efficiency. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in tool & die operations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive performance, troubleshoot complex tooling issues, and meet production timelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Supervise daily operations of the tool & die shop , including scheduling, task assignment, and workforce management Lead and support teams in die construction, die tryout, and repair operations Troubleshoot and repair production stamping dies and new tool builds to ensure dimensional accuracy Oversee the construction, modification, and repair of jigs, fixtures, gauges, and stamping dies Manage departmental hourly budgets and workload capacity to ensure profitability and efficiency Coordinate with scheduling and production teams to align manpower and production demands Maintain equipment functionality including press checks, control panels, and shop equipment Ensure adherence to SMIRT die build processes and customer die buyoff requirements Collaborate with Program Managers to manage tooling timelines, scope changes, and project alignment Train, mentor, and develop tool & die makers and apprentices Manage employee performance including disciplinary actions, evaluations, and time approvals Enforce all safety standards, procedures, and shop organization requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; Journeyman Tool & Die Maker required 10+ years of Tool & Die experience , including supervisory or leadership experience Strong experience with die construction, die tryout, and stamping die maintenance Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and PPE requirements Authorization to work in the United States Additional Qualifications Strong troubleshooting and continuous improvement mindset Experience with Class A surface requirements and die finishing Knowledge of welding and die repair techniques Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills Ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and production demands Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments Familiarity with SMIRT die build processes Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities High level of accountability and professionalism in a production leadership role The Global Edge Consultants, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
