Job Description

Job Title:
Tool and Die Technician Job Description This role focuses on building, repairing, and maintaining dies, tools, fixtures, and jigs to support uninterrupted, high-precision manufacturing. You will work with a variety of machine tools, interpret technical drawings, and ensure that all tooling meets strict quality and dimensional standards in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities Build, repair, and maintain dies, tools, fixtures, and jigs to keep production running without interruption. Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine tools to support tooling and die work. Perform tool steel welding as needed to repair or modify tooling and dies. Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications and requirements. Compute dimensions and tolerances based on blueprints and part specifications. Verify machined parts and tooling using precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality. Execute preventative maintenance schedules on tools and dies to maximize reliability and uptime. Troubleshoot and resolve tooling and quality issues quickly to minimize production downtime. Document daily tasks and complete production and maintenance sheets accurately and on time. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe toolroom and work area. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with tool and die work in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. Proficiency in setting up and operating a variety of machine tools. Skill in using precision measuring instruments to verify parts and tooling. Ability to perform tool steel welding for repair and modification work. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Solid time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a production environment. Strong problem-solving ability to quickly diagnose and resolve tooling and quality issues. Basic computer skills for documentation and production reporting. Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Tool & Die Maker certificate preferred but not required. Experience working with high-precision metal forming and assembly processes is an asset. Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsdale, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $49.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
