Job Description

Overview At AVA Milan Metal Systems (MMS), our we manufacture stampings and welding components to customer specifications in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity standards. We assembly many of these and other components for many of our customers. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tool Maker to join our manufacturing team to build, repair, and maintain dies used in stamping and welding operations to meet customer specifications while upholding safety, quality, and productivity standards. Your expertise will ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards. Responsibilities Build, repair, and modify dies, jigs, fixtures, and tools Read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications Measure and inspect parts for accuracy and quality compliance Perform test runs and adjustments to ensure proper function Select materials based on strength, heat resistance, and application Design tooling and fixtures (including CAD work where applicable) Conduct heat treating and finishing processes (grinding, polishing, fitting) Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to create or modify tooling and fixtures. Set up and operate CNC machines including CNC lathes, milling machines, and other machining to produce precise tooling components. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges to verify dimensions and ensure adherence to tight tolerances. Maintain detailed documentation of tooling designs, modifications, and repair procedures in schematics and technical reports. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot tooling issues, perform repairs, and optimize tool performance Requirements High school diploma or GED required Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure precision in manufacturing processes. Mechanical knowledge of manufacturing processes related to tooling, machining, assembly, and fabrication. Ability to operate precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, micrometers, and other precision tools accurately. Skilled in reading schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings for tool design and repair. Strong math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters. Experience working with steel stamping molding tools Experience with progressive, transfer, and line dies Strong machining and troubleshooting skills Excellent hand tool skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work scheduled shift and work overtime as required Physical & Work Conditions Standing/sitting for extended periods Repetitive motion tasks Frequent bending, squatting, walking Lifting up to 30 lbs regularly Exposure to moderate noise and welding smoke (within OSHA limits) Standard 40-hour workweek with occasional overtime Interviews will be held on-site over the next couple of weeks!
