Job Description

Position Summary:
Perform tasks required to independently isolate problems with tools & dies, take them apart, machine new parts (or repair old ones) and reassemble the tooling and dies. Tasks must be performed that the tools are capable of producing quality parts to specifications when returned to production and fast enough that the tools can be returned to production without an interruption in service to our customers. Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following: Demonstrate operation of basic machining equipment and tools: Vertical Milling Machine Lathe Drill Press Broach Grinder Welders Hand Tools CNC Work in a safe manner, providing constant attention and communication regarding safety concerns to leaders in order to limit unsafe practices throughout the facility. Perform preventative maintenance on tool and dies. Troubleshoot advanced issues with tool and dies to ensure production needs are met. Proactively participate in continuous improvement efforts and drive process, tooling, and equipment enhancements that will improve production efficiency and product quality. Help develop specific maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair production equipment and tools. Read and interpret CAD data, blueprints, GD&T, CMM reports, customer specifications. Apply and utilize manufacturing best practice for efficiency, quality, safety and capability. Maintain a good working relationship with vendors, team members, suppliers and project teams. Engage with outside resources as needed to keep production running. Provide direction and coaching to less experienced team members, as well as mentor apprentices as requested. Advanced troubleshooting of both equipment and systems. Additional functions, not specifically outlined in this position description, as directed by the supervisor.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED). Journeyman's Card in Tool and Die or 8 years experience as a Tool Maker. Minimum of five years of experience as a Tool Maker preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Problem-solving/critical thinking as it relates to troubleshooting for continuous improvement Proficient with Microsoft Applications (e.g. word, excel, outlook, etc).
