Toolmaker

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team in three Rivers, MI. In this vital role, you will be responsible for planning layouts and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, etc. requiring considerable skill and general knowledge of tooling practices and applications. Fabricating, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds used in various production processes. Your expertise will ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with the highest quality standards. Duties Studies specifications, such as blueprints, sketches or tool description and plans sequence of operation for tool or fixture build. Measures, marks and scribes metal stock to lay out work pieces for machining. Program CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precise tooling components. Fits and assembles parts into assemblies or mechanisms using hand tools. Fabricate tools and parts through machining processes like electrical discharge machining (EDM), stamping press operations, welding, and burn skills. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances aligned with GD&T standards. Assemble tooling components meticulously, ensuring proper fit and function for manufacturing applications. Heat treats tools or parts when appropriate. Has access to own tools and tool box. Maintain detailed documentation of fabrication processes, schematics, and inspection reports for quality control purposes. Skills Strong knowledge of CNC programming for lathe and milling machines to produce complex parts with high precision. Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), stamping presses, and fabrication techniques. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to ensure accurate part specifications. Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams for troubleshooting electrical systems related to tooling equipment. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including assembly, fabrication, welding, and machining operations. Strong math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters.
