Until position is filled About Team Up Academy Team Up Academy is a faith-based nonprofit workforce development organization dedicated to transforming lives through high-quality vocational training and job placement. We serve veterans, returning citizens, and individuals from underserved communities by providing hands-on training in advanced manufacturing, including CNC machining, welding, and related skills. Our mission is to equip students with industry-recognized credentials and the confidence to secure stable, rewarding careers in Michigan's manufacturing sector. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and passionate CNC Machine Operator Instructor to deliver practical, industry-aligned training in our CNC Machining Certificate Program. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in CNC operations combined with the ability to teach, mentor, and motivate adult learners from diverse backgrounds in a supportive, hands-on learning environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging instruction in CNC machine setup, operation, programming (basic G-code), tooling, and troubleshooting for mills and lathes. Develop and update lesson plans, training materials, and assessments that align with industry standards and employer needs. Provide hands-on demonstrations and supervise students in a shop/lab setting, ensuring safe operation of equipment. Teach related topics including blueprint reading, precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, etc.), shop math, and quality control. Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and offer additional support to help all learners succeed. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized training environment; enforce safety protocols and OSHA standards. Prepare students for industry credentials and entry-level CNC operator positions. Collaborate with the education team on program improvements, student job placement support, and employer partnerships. Track attendance, grades, and performance records. Participate in student recruitment, orientation, and graduation activities including but not limited to: Job fairs Special events Qualifications Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience as a CNC Machine Operator or Machinist and legacy machines in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss machines; experience with programming and multi-axis machines is a plus. Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred (especially with adult learners or in workforce development). Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to students with varying skill levels and educational backgrounds. Commitment to the Academy's mission of serving veterans, returning citizens, and underserved populations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills. High school diploma required; Associate's degree, technical certification, or journeyman status preferred. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Skills & Attributes Familiarity with common manufacturing software and controls (Fanuc, Haas, etc.).
OSHA 10/30
