Job Description

Bennett Packaging of Kansas City, Inc. is seeking a Tooling Coordinator to manage our tooling operations, including dies, cutting forms, plates, and related production tooling. This position is critical to ensuring efficient production workflows, maintaining tooling inventory, and coordinating tooling needs between customers, sales, design, and production departments. Key Responsibilities Tooling Management & Inventory Maintain and manage inventory of all production tooling including steel rule dies, rotary dies, cutting forms, printing plates, and anilox rollers Develop and maintain organized tooling storage systems to ensure quick retrieval and proper preservation Track tooling life cycles and schedule maintenance, sharpening, or replacement as needed Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile with inventory management system Maintain accurate records of tooling specifications, customer ownership, and usage history Coordination & Communication Serve as primary liaison between sales, customer service, design, production, and external die vendors Coordinate new tooling orders with approved vendors and manage delivery timelines Communicate tooling availability and readiness to production planning and scheduling teams Production Support Pull and prepare tooling for upcoming production runs based on production schedules Verify tooling accuracy and condition before releasing to production floor Coordinate tooling setup with production operators and provide technical support as needed Troubleshoot tooling-related production issues and coordinate repairs or replacements Vendor & Supplier Management Manage relationships with die makers, plate suppliers, and tooling service providers Obtain quotes for new tooling and repairs Process purchase orders and track invoicing for tooling expenses Quality & Continuous Improvement Inspect incoming tooling for quality and accuracy before acceptance Document tooling issues and work with vendors to implement corrective actions Administrative Duties Maintain tooling database and management software (experience with Encore/Amtech preferred) Process tooling invoices and maintain budget tracking Ensure compliance with safety protocols for tooling handling and storage Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required 2+ years of experience in tooling coordination, inventory management, or related role in manufacturing environment preferred Corrugated or printing industry experience strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for inventory tracking Ability to work independently and as part of a team Customer service orientation with professional demeanor Preferred Qualifications Experience with ERP or inventory management systems (Encore/Amtech experience a plus) Forklift certification or willingness to obtain Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk throughout facility for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly Ability to climb ladders and access elevated storage areas Manual dexterity for handling tooling and operating computer systems What We Offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with company match Paid time off and holidays Stable, growing company with advancement opportunities Collaborative and supportive work environment Proud to be an EOE.
