JOB TITLE

GENERAL SUMMARY
Fabricates, repairs, and refurbishes precision fixtures, gages, shop aids, dies, molds, and replacement parts to support production operations. Performs tool room and die cast machine repair activities using manual and CNC equipment, welding processes, measuring devices, and troubleshooting skills. Demonstrates Spartan's core operating values through work activities, actions, and behaviors.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Performs all die repair, die maintenance, die refurbishment, and preventive maintenance activities in the tool room and at the die cast machine. Reviews and understands blueprints, schematics, plumbing diagrams, specifications, and part drawings for machined and fabricated parts, with special focus on aluminum die casting dies and molds. Determines the sequence of steps to follow in production of the product and plans the production process, including where and how to cut the work piece and the correct tools and materials required for the job. Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws sketches of parts or products to be fabricated, as required. Operates various tool room equipment, both manual and CNC, along with hand and power tools such as grinders, polishers, saws, drills, lathes, and mills, to fabricate, repair, and finalize tooling components including core pins and die repairs. Performs precise cutting, machining, fitting, and finishing of tooling and uses gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices to verify dimensions and tolerances. Performs welding repairs, primarily TIG welding, and completes machining or hand finishing of weld repairs to return molds and dies to production condition and required part shape. Applies knowledge of the relationship between the die or mold and the casting to properly diagnose issues and restore tooling to required production standards. Troubleshoots tooling and repair issues, identifies root cause, implements corrective actions, and verifies effectiveness of repairs. Operates overhead crane to safely move dies, tooling, and related components. Completes all required paperwork accurately, including work orders, check sheets, and ERP system entries. Contributes to and supports a positive work environment through personal involvement by communicating, interacting, and behaving in a manner that promotes productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and others with whom such relationships are important to the success of company operations. Works as part of the Tool Room team and partners effectively with Production to support operational needs. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School/GED 3+ years related tool room experience Solid experience in operating a variety of manual and CNC controlled machinery to produce precision parts and components to exact specifications
Preferred:
