About Anodyne Surgical Anodyne Surgical is a privately owned medical device manufacturer producing disposable ophthalmic cannulas used in eye surgeries such as cataract and LASIK procedures. Our products are manufactured in our climate-controlled facility in O'Fallon, Missouri, where quality, precision, and teamwork are central to everything we do. Position Overview The Machine Tool Department Machinist plays a key role in designing, fabricating, qualifying, installing, monitoring, and maintaining manufacturing tooling and inspection equipment. This role applies engineering fundamentals, applied research, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve tooling, increase production yields, and enhance manufacturing throughput. This position works independently on complex tooling projects and ensures all production tools and inspection equipment are maintained for optimal performance. Key Responsibilities Research, develop, and implement improvements to manufacturing tooling and equipment to improve product quality, increase throughput, reduce downtime, and minimize process variability Evaluate semi-automation and full automation opportunities where appropriate Develop and improve tooling requirements based on facility, safety, throughput, and maintenance considerations Evaluate off-the-shelf tooling solutions versus custom tooling, including performance, lead time, and cost analysis Document experiments, testing, and tooling development activities through lab notebooks, technical reports, and evaluation summaries Design, fabricate, and test manufacturing and inspection tooling Perform tool qualification and create documentation required for production implementation Train production personnel on new or modified tooling, equipment, and processes Support the Quality Department with process validation and product/process performance activities in accordance with the Quality Management System Review operational metrics with management and prioritize tooling improvements to reduce scrap and minimize manufacturing errors Lead R&D projects related to tool design and next-generation device development, both internally and with external suppliers Implement and maintain a scheduled tooling maintenance program Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair on production and inspection tools as required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing methods, processes, and tooling Preferred 5+ years designing tools and fixtures for manufacturing, ideally within a medical device environment or similar precision manufacturing industry Experience with ladder logic programming and machine/process control software Hands-on experience with materials fabrication equipment and machining techniques Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing principles Working knowledge of
GMP, ISO
13485, MDD, and QSR regulatory requirements preferred Strong collaboration and teamwork in product and process development environments Excellent technical documentation and report writing skills ScheduleCompensation Full-time Monday Friday | 6:00 AM 2:30 PM Salary based on experience Climate-controlled manufacturing environment
