  • ComputerØ Ability to utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to document setup time and production quantities.
  • Machining/EquipmentØ Highly proficient with manual machining principles and equipment such as mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
Ø Hands on mechanical aptitude and ability to work with basic hand tools and machine shop equipment.Ø Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines.Ø Understanding precision measuring tools, both manual and computerized.Ø Familiarity with CNC programmed equipment is preferred.Ø Knowledge of material and mechanical properties of wire, tubing, and metal such as stainless steel, tool steel (O-1, A-2, D-2), carbide, and nitinol desired.Ø Understanding of metallurgy, silver soldering, brazing, heat treating, and annealing.
  • General SkillsØ Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
Ø Able to work independently with limited instruction and supervision.Ø Ability to work on a cross-functional team and be open-minded to differing suggestions and opinions.Ø Ability to effectively communicate with peers, subordinates, and customers both verbally and written.Ø Capable of prioritizing multiple projects and tasks at once and able to track and record results on a timely basis including computer entry of production data.Ø Ability to follow written procedures, diagrams, and blueprints with tight tolerances and offer feedback to improve manufacturability. Ø Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and apply findings to improve process controls/capability. Ø Ability to work in and maintain a clean environment with good housekeeping and organization. 6. Experience
  • Previous experience in a mechanical / industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum two years of machinist experience required. 7. Responsibilities and Authorities
Customer Focused:
Ø Review customer drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturing process is setup to yield parts within specification.Ø Ensure timely setup of manufacturing jobs to achieve customer timeline expectations.
  • Machine Setups Ø Design and build tooling for punch presses (dies, pin holders, and mandrel holder).Ø Build and setup tooling for end formers, speed lathes, and wire bending fixtures (grippers, pins, forming tools).
Process Improvements and Cost Reduction:
Ø Work with operators and mechanics to standardize and optimize equipment setups. Ø Reduce department consumable costs through alternate sources and more efficient use of consumables. Ø Obtain input from machine operators to improve designs of manufacturing tooling and fixtures.

Specifications, Metrics, and Regulations:
Ø Recommend improvements to visual aids and work instructions to drive compliance to part drawings/specifications.Ø Work with production and quality teams to investigate and troubleshoot investigations for non-conformances, scrap, and customer complaints. Ø Record setup times and production hour/output on an as needed basis in ERP system.
    Equipment Focus:
    Ø Perform proper PM (preventative maintenance) of manufacturing equipment. Ø Recommend modifications to PM (preventative maintenance) schedule of manufacturing equipment. Ø Troubleshoot and repair issues on existing production equipment/fixtures/tooling. This may involve working with outside contractors and machine vendors as well as sourcing required equipment parts/components.
      Physical:
      Ø Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs. Ø Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of machines. 8. Travel
