Full-Time Physical Examination Required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker to perform complex maintenance and fabrication work in a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong machining expertise, blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to fabricate, repair, and modify precision tools and dies. Candidates must possess Journeyman's papers or have at least 10 years of experience performing complex work as a Tool and Die Maker or Machinist. Primary Responsibilities Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools. Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses). Interpret blueprints, sketches, models, and specifications to plan sequences of operations. Fabricate, repair, and modify dies, jigs, gauges, fixtures, and tools. Inspect finished dies for contour conformity, smoothness, and defects. Select appropriate metals and alloys based on hardness and heat tolerance. Lift, position, and secure parts using hoists, vises, v-blocks, and angle plates. Perform filing, grinding, shimming, polishing, and surface finishing. Measure, mark, and scribe metal or plastic stock for machining operations. Conduct test runs of completed tools and dies; make necessary adjustments. Design jigs, fixtures, and templates for fabrication support. Perform drilling, tapping, cutting, shaping, and trimming operations. Set and monitor heat-treating furnace controls to harden parts. Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for documentation. Train and support apprentices as needed. Communicate mechanical issues and solutions effectively with team members. Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow all safety procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Journeyman certification or 10+ years of complex tool and die or machinist experience Strong blueprint reading and precision measurement skills Experience with conventional and CNC machining equipment Advanced knowledge of tool fabrication, die repair, and heat treatment processes Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills #
