Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Die Repair Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating dies used in high-precision manufacturing processes. Your expertise will ensure that tooling and dies are optimized for efficiency, accuracy, and longevity, directly contributing to the quality of our products. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced machining techniques and technical knowledge in a dynamic production environment. Responsibilities Perform detailed repairs and maintenance on dies used in plastics injection molding, stamping presses, and other manufacturing operations. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to inspect die components and ensure adherence to specifications. Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and CAD models created with AutoCAD or SolidWorks to guide machining and fabrication tasks. Operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment to modify or create die components with high accuracy. Program CNC machines using CAM programming techniques to produce complex parts efficiently. Fabricate die components through welding, fabrication, and assembly using hand tools and fabrication equipment. Utilize GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to verify precision and quality during the repair process. Maintain detailed documentation of repair procedures, machining steps, and inspection results for quality control purposes. Requirements Proven experience as a machinist specializing in die repair or related manufacturing roles. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in machining, fabrication, and assembly processes. Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD for interpreting drawings and designing parts. Skilled in CNC programming for lathe and milling machines, with experience operating CNC equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for precise die modifications. Familiarity with plastics injection molding processes and tooling requirements is highly desirable. Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints accurately. Experience with precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges. Strong math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings required for die fabrication. Excellent hand tool skills for welding, fabrication, assembly, and fine adjustments of tooling components. Knowledge of stamping presses and stamping die design is a plus. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining safety standards.
