Job Description:
Job Description Pem Operator The PEM Operator supports the Welding Department by installing PEM fasteners into sheet metal components using PEM insertion equipment. This role is responsible for producing quality parts that meet engineering specifications, production schedules, and safety standards. The PEM Operator may also assist with general welding department tasks as needed to support manufacturing operations. Essential Job Functions Operate PEM insertion equipment to install nuts, studs, and standoffs into sheet metal parts Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings Verify correct PEM hardware, location, and orientation per print specifications Inspect parts for quality, ensuring PEM fasteners are properly installed and defect-free Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventive maintenance Use measuring tools (calipers, gauges) to ensure dimensional accuracy Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and quality standards at all times Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S) Record production and quality data as required Assist welding or fabrication team members with related tasks as needed Meet production goals while maintaining quality expectations Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Ability to read basic blueprints and follow work instructions Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Ability to lift up to 35 lbs Willingness to cross-train within the welding department Basic computer skills for data entry and work systems Preferred Qualifications Previous manufacturing or metal fabrication experience Experience installing PEM fasteners or operating press equipment Familiarity with sheet metal parts and welding environments Experience using hand tools and measuring instruments Working Conditions Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery Standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions required Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc.) Physical Requirements Regular standing and walking Frequent use of hands for tool and equipment operation Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of materials up to 35 lbs Visual acuity to inspect parts and read prints
