Shift:
3rd Shift Position Overview IAC Group is seeking an experienced, high-precision Tool / Mold Maker for a permanent, full-time position on our 3rd Shift at our Arlington, TX facility. This critical role focuses on fabricating, modifying, and maintaining basic to high-complexity plastic injection molds. The ideal candidate will combine comprehensive machine shop execution with a strong ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical tooling issues on the production floor.
General Job Duties & Responsibilities Machining Operations:
Expertly set up and operate manual and CNC toolroom equipment, including mills, lathes, vertical/sinker Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs), surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders.
Tooling Assembly & Tear-down:
Execute the complex teardown, component cleaning, stack measurement, and complete assembly of multi-cavity injection molds.
Mold Repair & Emergency Maintenance:
Rapidly diagnose and overhaul worn or damaged mold cavities, cores, slides, lifters, and parting lines.
Priority Tracking:
Manage and process urgent "Red Tag"toolroom work orders to optimize plant throughput and minimize downtime.
Advanced Welding:
Utilize TIG, MIG, and detailed micro-welding techniques to restore damaged precision surfaces or modify parting lines.
Engineering Revisions:
Implement precise engineering design updates and structural changes on active production molds based on blueprint documentation.
Bench-work Craftsmanship:
Use precise hand skills for the custom stoning, hand-fitting, and high-gloss diamond polishing of intricate mold components.
Fixtures & Checking Gauges:
Fabricate custom production fixtures, specialized end-of-arm tooling components, and quality inspection templates as needed.
Project Leadership & Mentorship:
Serve as the technical Project Leader on major mold revisions, orchestrating workflow steps and ensuring final build quality while mentoring toolroom apprentices.
Safety & Environment:
Observe all EHS safety requirements, wear mandated PPE, and maintain the toolroom area in a immaculate, 5S condition.
Education & Experience Requirements Education:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Journeyman certification or tool & die training is an asset.
Experience Range:
Minimum of 5 to 10 years of verified hands-on mold-making, mold repair, and tool maintenance experience.
Bench Expertise:
Demonstrated mastery in the delicate craft of hand-stoning and diamond-polishing high-finish steel blocks. Technical Knowledge & Qualifications Broad understanding of commercial plastic injection molding parameters and mold behaviors. Proven capability to diagnose, reverse-engineer, and troubleshoot complex multi-plate mold hydraulics, complex mechanical sequencing actions, and electrical hot-runner systems. Capability to interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), blueprint layouts, tool matrices, and design prints. Physical Demands Must have the stamina to stand and/or sit 8 to 12 hours per day. Ability to comfortably execute physical range-of-motion movements, including overhead work and tooling work below the waist. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs regularly and lift up to 40 lbs on an occasional basis .
