Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable Medical Footwear Specialist / Therapeutic Footwear Specialist to join the Foot Companion team. In this role, you will provide expert guidance in selecting therapeutic shoes, insoles, and supportive devices. Working closely with clients, medical professionals, and our internal team, you will ensure each client receives a tailored solution addressing their unique needs. Your expertise will directly contribute to improving our clients' mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement:
Greet and engage clients, actively listening to understand their specific foot health concerns, medical conditions, and lifestyle factors. Perform initial foot measurements and assessments to identify alignment issues, pressure points, and areas requiring support or relief. Provide personalized recommendations for therapeutic footwear, orthotics, and accessories based on professional knowledge and product expertise.
Product Knowledge & Recommendation:
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the full range of therapeutic footwear brands, materials, technologies, and features. Stay informed on industry trends, medical footwear advancements, and evolving foot care guidelines to make evidence-based recommendations. Educate clients on the proper use and care of footwear, insoles, and orthotic devices. Collaboration with
Healthcare Professionals:
Communicate with podiatrists, orthopedists, and other healthcare providers to translate medical prescriptions and recommendations into appropriate footwear solutions. Provide documentation and product details as needed to support insurance reimbursements or medical claims.
Fitting & Customization:
Perform precise fittings and adjustments to ensure optimum comfort, support, and alignment. Utilize tools and equipment (e.g., foot scanners, heat molding devices) to customize insoles and shoes for maximum relief and stability.
Customer Education & Follow-Up:
Educate clients on proper footwear maintenance, replacement intervals, and strategies to prevent foot injuries or exacerbation of existing conditions. Schedule follow-up consultations to assess product performance and make necessary adjustments.
Store Operations & Administration:
Manage inventory by monitoring stock levels, noting customer preferences, and ensuring timely restocking of popular therapeutic products. Maintain accurate client records, including measurements, product recommendations, purchase history, and follow-up notes. Support merchandising efforts to create an inviting, informative retail environment that highlights Foot Companion's commitment to foot health.
Required Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certification:
Background in pedorthics, orthotics, physical therapy, or related foot health fields preferred. Required - Certified is at least one of the profession listed here: Certified Fitter - Therapeutic Shoes, Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped), Certified Orthotic Fitter, Orthotist.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in therapeutic footwear fitting, orthopedic product sales, or a related healthcare or retail setting. Proven track record of delivering high-quality customer experiences and individualized product solutions.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of foot anatomy, common foot conditions, and principles of biomechanical alignment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms. Attention to detail, precision in measurement, and a commitment to product quality and customer satisfaction. Ability to work independently, collaborate with teammates, and maintain a positive, empathetic attitude under pressure.
