Job Description
Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. Summary:
The Wastewater Treatment Operator operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage by performing the following duties:Key Responsibilities:
Monitor control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage. Reads PH levels and add chemicals as needed. Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine load requirements. Start and stop pumps that control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. Maintains log operations and records meter and gauge readings. Collects sewage sample and conducts laboratory tests. Have a basic understanding of Lab in wastewater to complete compliance paperwork. Rebuild small pumps for sewage in the WWTP.Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain, operate, and clean all 7 wastewater plants. Be willing to obtain a small system water license for our drinking water. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned. Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs. Notifies designated personnel of any equipment or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety training. Clean Sewage lift station. Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. 1-2 years' experience working in wastewater treatment plants or equivalent combination of education and experience. Hold a State of Alaska WWTP license LVL 1 in Wastewater or e ducation in water treatment and or an appropriate reciprocal license from an accredited state. Preferred Qualifications Grade II Certification in Wastewater and level 1 in water treatment from the State of Alaska is preferred.Special Training/ Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to calculate figures and amount such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volumes. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, hand, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, couch, or crawl and tank or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.Metal Activities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, speak, write, and understand English; and to use customer service skills. The employee is frequently required to use interpersonal and teamwork skills. The employee is occasionally required to use independent judgement, discretion, problem analysis, and decision-making skills.Work authorizations:
