Jacobs is seeking a Wastewater System Operator, based in Prescott Valley, AZ, to support the integrated operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), Collections System, Reclaimed Water System, and associated laboratory and maintenance activities. This position reflects a modern, team-based operational model where operators are cross-trained and capable of performing duties across all wastewater systems to ensure continuity, safety, and operational excellence with a primary focus on Wastewater Collections. Operators in this role will work collaboratively with project staff and supervision to perform daily operational, maintenance, compliance, and emergency response activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment, collections, reclaimed water, and laboratory systems
- Perform routine inspections, process monitoring, and operational adjustments across the entire system
- Respond to after-hours and emergency call-outs as required
- Collect, process, and document wastewater samples; assist with laboratory testing and data entry
- Operate and maintain plant equipment
- Perform collections system activities including inspections, flushing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Utilize CMMS, GIS, and data systems to track work, assets, and operational metrics
- Maintain accurate records and prepare routine and special operational reports
- Assist in diagnosing system malfunctions and determining corrective actions
- Support asset condition assessments and capital improvement planning efforts
- Perform heavy manual labor and field work when required
- Follow all safety, compliance, and regulatory procedures
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with no major infractions
- Experience in a wastewater treatment plant, collections system, or other safety-sensitive operational environment
- Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate documentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data entry systems
- Willingness to work in a cross-trained operational role
- Availability for after-hours, weekend, and emergency call-outs
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varied environmental conditions
- ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Treatment Certification (or ability to obtain)
- ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Collections Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement (or ability to obtain)
Note:
Operators may be hired with one certification path and trained toward the other as part of model.Ideally, You'll Also Have:
- Experience working in both treatment and collections operations
- Experience in a wastewater laboratory environment and sample processing
- Experience with CMMS, GIS, or asset management systems
- Ability to coordinate activities based on operational priorities
- Experience supporting compliance, safety programs, and operational improvements
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and system-wide operational perspective
