Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Water System Operator and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable water and wastewater services for our community. In this energetic role, you will operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment and distribution systems, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and technical skills to uphold the highest standards of water quality. Your proactive approach will help keep our water infrastructure running smoothly, efficiently, and safely, making a tangible difference in public health and environmental sustainability. Duties Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to regulate water treatment processes and equipment. Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on pumps, valves, filters, and other mechanical components to ensure optimal system performance. Collect and analyze data related to water quality parameters, flow rates, pressure levels, and equipment performance to identify issues early. Perform heavy equipment operation including tankers, cranes, or loaders for maintenance or construction projects. Assist with wastewater treatment processes by monitoring chemical dosing, clarifier operation, and sludge management. Maintain detailed records of system operations, maintenance activities, and data logs for compliance and reporting purposes. Support construction projects or upgrades by performing plumbing tasks or installing new equipment as needed. Qualifications Proven experience with equipment repair, mechanical systems, or water treatment operations. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS). Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while handling equipment or materials. Basic math skills for calculations related to flow rates, chemical dosages, or system measurements. Strong analysis skills to interpret data trends and troubleshoot operational issues effectively. Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in plumbing or maintenance tasks. Valid tanker certification or willingness to obtain one for transportation of materials or waste. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in confined spaces or outdoor environments. $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
