JOB SUMMARY
: WaterWorkforce, Inc. is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to support the daily operation, monitoring, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of multiple wastewater treatment facilities in the San Bernardino County region. The primary responsibility of this position will be the daily operation of a Grade IV wastewater treatment plant currently treating approximately 800,000 gallons per day. The main facility includes an oxidation ditch, clarifier basins with launders and weirs, filtration, and discharge to percolation ponds. This facility is the core focus of the role and will require consistent on-site attention, process monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant plant performance. In addition to the primary plant, the operator will also provide lower-touch operational support for three additional wastewater facilities, including a small pond system, a seasonal MBR system, and a larger pond system near the Colorado River. These additional facilities are visited on a less frequent basis and are not expected to require the same daily operational presence as the main plant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Operate, monitor, and maintain the primary Grade IV wastewater treatment plant on a daily basis. Monitor and control wastewater treatment processes, including oxidation ditch operations, clarifier performance, filtration, and discharge to percolation ponds. Observe and evaluate treatment performance, flow conditions, equipment status, and process indicators to ensure proper plant operation. Perform routine inspections of plant equipment, basins, pumps, valves, filters, weirs, launders, ponds, and related wastewater treatment infrastructure. Make operational adjustments as needed to support compliance, treatment efficiency, and overall facility performance. Collect readings, maintain logs, document operational activities, and support required reporting and compliance documentation. Respond to alarms, operational issues, and emergency conditions as needed, including participation in the standby/on-call rotation. Provide standby coverage every other week, including approximately 4 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday. Visit and monitor a small pond system with an approximate capacity of 200,000 GPD, generally 1-2 times per week. Support a seasonal MBR system located in the High Desert region when the system is in operation. Conduct periodic checks of a larger pond system near the Colorado River, approximately quarterly or as operational needs require. Coordinate with supervisors, County representatives, regulatory staff, vendors, laboratories, and other operational personnel as needed. Identify maintenance needs, assist with troubleshooting, and communicate repair or operational concerns in a timely manner. Follow all safety procedures, regulatory requirements, site-specific protocols, and standard operating practices. Perform additional wastewater operations, maintenance, compliance, and field duties as assigned.
