Position Summary The Food Plant Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all sanitation activities within the food production facility to ensure compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. This role leads sanitation team members, coordinates cleaning schedules, verifies sanitation effectiveness, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to maintain a safe and hygienic manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily sanitation operations for production equipment, processing areas, and facility infrastructure. Lead, train, coach, and evaluate sanitation team members to ensure high performance and adherence to safety procedures. Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, GMP, HACCP, SQF, and company food safety standards. Develop and maintain sanitation schedules, SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), and cleaning verification records. Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify equipment and production areas meet sanitation requirements before releasing the process line to production. Monitor chemical usage, concentrations, and inventory to ensure safe and effective cleaning practices. Investigate sanitation-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production departments to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for sanitation activities, training records, and compliance metrics. Promote a strong culture of food safety, employee safety, and continuous improvement. Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste materials according to environmental and safety regulations. Provide and present updates to upper management. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Supports implementation of Continuous Improvement programs, new methods, procedures, and systems to improve safety, quality and food safety and look for ways to proactively increase efficiency and contain costs. Works effectively with employees at all levels of the organization to promote positive and productive working relationships. Other duties as assigned Work Schedule Full-time position with flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, as needed. May require on-call availability during production or emergency sanitation events. Compensation & Pay Transparency (California) The annual base salary for this position is $80,000-$110,000. This range reflects the Company's good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs. The Company reserves the right to modify compensation and benefits in accordance with applicable law. Total Rewards SupHerb farms offers a structured goal-oriented bonus plan. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Industrial Sanitation, or related field preferred. 3-5 years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment. Prior supervisory or leadership experience required. Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation best practices. Experience with HACCP, GMP, SQF, BRC, or other food safety systems. Ability to read and interpret SOPs, chemical labels, and safety documentation. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office and sanitation tracking systems. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Preferred Certifications HACCP Certification SQF Practitioner Certification OSHA Safety Training Sanitation or Food Safety Certifications Performance Expectations Maintain audit-ready sanitation standards at all times. Achieve sanitation KPIs related to safety, quality, downtime, and labor efficiency. Reduce sanitation-related production delays and contamination risks. Foster employee accountability and continuous improvement within the sanitation department. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position operates in a food manufacturing environment with exposure to cold temperatures, industrial equipment, noise, and cleaning chemicals. The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
