The City of Monte Vista is looking for a dependable, proactive Wastewater Maintenance I team member to join our Water and Sewer Utilities division. If you like solving problems, working outdoors, and don't mind getting your hands dirty to keep a city running smoothly, we want to talk to you! WWTF Maintenance I (Utilities Maintenance Worker)
Salary:
$20.00 - $23.00 / hour (Depending on experience)

Every day, you are directly protecting local water quality and the environment for your neighbors. What You'll Do (The Day-to-Day) As a core member of our utilities team, you will keep our wastewater treatment facility running like a well-oiled machine.
Your main tasks will include:
Monitoring & Adjusting:
Keep an eye on treatment processes, adjust valves, and run pumps and blowers to maintain water quality standards.
Lab Analysis & Reporting:
Perform routine laboratory testing on wastewater samples and accurately record your data.
Maintenance & Upkeep:
Conduct routine inspections, fix mechanical equipment, and keep the facility grounds looking clean and sharp.
Team Support:
Participate in an on-call rotation and step in to help other Public Works divisions when emergencies or big projects pop up. What You Bring to the
Table Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
While 3+ months of utility, mechanical, or industrial experience is preferred, it's not a dealbreaker if you are eager to learn.
Growth Mindset:
Ability to obtain a Class D Wastewater Operator license , a Class 1 Water & Sewer Distribution/Collection certification , and First Aid/CPR certification within 18 months of hire.
Physical Stamina:
You're comfortable working in all weather conditions, wearing PPE, and regularly pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 100 pounds.
Flexibility:
Available to work a schedule that includes a fixed rotation every other weekend, as well as occasional evenings or holidays for emergency on-call responses.
