Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Water Treatment Superintendent to lead our water treatment operations. This vital role involves overseeing the daily functions of wastewater treatment plants, ensuring environmental compliance, maintaining water systems, and managing equipment repair and maintenance. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical knowledge, experience with wastewater systems, and a passion for environmental stewardship to drive operational excellence. Responsibilities Supervise the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants and water treatment systems to ensure optimal performance. Maryland Class T3 Water Treatment Superintendent license is required or strongly preferred; T4 and D1 credentials are highly valued. Oversee equipment repair, industrial pump maintenance, plumbing, and heavy equipment operation to maintain system integrity. Monitor data collection processes related to water quality, system performance, and environmental compliance standards. Coordinate with team members on construction projects, system upgrades, and routine inspections. Ensure all safety protocols are followed by utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety regulations. Analyze operational data to identify issues early and implement corrective actions swiftly. Maintain detailed records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation. Qualifications Maryland Class T3 Water Treatment Superintendent license is required or strongly preferred; T4 and D1 credentials are highly valued. Proven experience working in wastewater treatment plants or water treatment facilities with a strong understanding of wastewater systems. Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair, industrial pump maintenance, plumbing, and heavy equipment operation. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and automation technology used in water treatment processes. Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards related to water systems. Ability to perform heavy lifting, operate construction equipment safely, and conduct analysis using basic math skills. Strong troubleshooting skills combined with attention to detail for data collection and analysis tasks. Prior experience working in the energy & utilities sector is highly desirable.
