7:30•7:30 (am or pm) 2 on / 2 off rotation•will discuss in interview
Expected Starting Hourly Range:
$25.56•$31.95 This classification is responsible for the performance of the water and/or wastewater treatment facility and biosolids dryer facility operation and for the effective and efficient management of the plant for the assigned shift. Working Conditions Indoor/outdoor situation; high noise environment while performing certain responsibilities. Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs. alone; up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
Essential Functions:
These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. While this is a general list of Job Duties, because of the diverse nature of an OIC, these Job Duties will vary depending on the work location and shift assigned (days or nights), and a list will be supplemented with specific duties for the work location and shift assigned. Oversee; be on-site to oversee, the efficient operation of the treatment plant during assigned shift and assure operations are in compliance with state and federal regulations. Prepare and maintain concise operating reports and logs; Responsible for maintaining the plant log book entries and regulatory log book requirements. Conduct regular inspections of the plant equipment and treatment processes to ensure proper operations at all times; take necessary corrective action as needed. Monitor treatment flow and process throughout the facility and make changes in plant process (with approval as necessary) to improve performance. Document shift operations, prepare reports, and prepare work orders for malfunctioning equipment. Responsible for collection of samples and following strict chain of command procedures for sample testing by others; responsible for correct sample documentation chain of custody paperwork. Supervise and train operators on assigned shift to ensure all assigned tasks are completed as required. Performs other related duties as assigned, including participation in emergency or disaster response activities, as required and consistent with the employee's qualifications, essential job functions, and applicable federal and Florida law. High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum two (2) years (within the past 6 years) experience at a Water/Wastewater Treatment Facility and /or Bio solids Dryer facility. Possession of a current FDEP Class "C" or higher Water/Wastewater Plant Operator License within assigned discipline. Must obtain a FDEP Class "B" Water/Wastewater plant operator license within 24 months of hire date. Additional years' experience at a Water/Wastewater Treatment Facility and /or Bio solids Dryer facility highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Detailed knowledge of the proper operation and location of all plant and remote equipment. Knowledge of all treatment plant process and methods of monitoring and adjusting operations to ensure compliance with operational protocols. Knowledge of FDEP Operating Permit requirements to meet compliance standards. Knowledge of SWFWMD permit requirements (WTP). Knowledge of
EPA SDWA
requirements (WTP). Knowledge of safety factors involved with handling W/WW facility equipment, chemicals, and materials. Working knowledge of advanced chemical and math principles as related to W/WW treatment. Ability to detect flaws in operation of equipment or treatment processes and determine proper remedial measures. Ability to understand and carryout complicated written and oral work orders. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with maintenance staff, laboratory staff, administrative staff, other County employees and the general public. Ability to supervise/direct the work of other operators on assigned shift. Knowledge of equipment such as pumps and controls, motors, gears, diesel generators, chlorinators, and other equipment. Knowledge of laws regulating water and/or wastewater treatment. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs to equipment and buildings and to perform grounds maintenance. Ability to accurately read meters, gauges, flow charts, record time on proper forms and record test results. Ability to climb and descend ladders and stairs. Ability to distinguish colors.
