REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED Minimum of five (5) years experience in utilities maintenance and repair work Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Must possess, or obtain within one year, and maintain a valid Florida Class "C" Wastewater Operator's License Must possess, or obtain within one year, and maintain a valid Florida Class "C" Water Operator's License Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs operational and regulatory work in the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater in compliance with all applicable city, state and federal regulations, guidelines, and safety standards. Performs operational and regulatory work pertaining to water treatment plants. Performs and records chemical and pressure sampling and laboratory testing; calculates results/readings; ascertains treatment performance and quality; performs appropriate equipment adjustments and calibrations. Performs general and preventative maintenance, replacement tasks and minor plumbing repairs of wastewater equipment and facilities (e.g., pumps, tanks, piping, wells, aerators, precipitators, filters, motors, pulleys, drive belts, solids and chemicals handling). Monitors and sets chlorine machinery to obtain proper chemical usage readings. Tests and maintains backflow preventers. Operates and maintains pump stations; records daily pump readings (e.g., pressure, flow, time, chemical usage, pump function/operation) Performs corrective measures to pump operations and settings as necessary. Performs inspection of facilities and equipment to identify existing or potential problems; informs supervisor of breakdown or obstruction. Maintains various mechanical maintenance and repair records and logs. Accurately documents time and materials utilized to complete work orders. Assists other trade workers with special projects, as assigned. Provides 24‐hour emergency support, as required. Utilizes current technology, as appropriate, to perform job functions and participates in training programs offered to increase technology skill level and proficiency related to job assignments.
