Job Description

Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled to skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the Town's water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Is responsible for receiving and carrying out work assignments and may serve in a lead worker capacity on assigned jobs. Reports to Utilities Maintenance Supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
Graduation from High School or GED. One (1) year of experience in maintaining and repairing water distribution and wastewater collection systems, or closely related work.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE
REQUIRED:
Possession of a FDEP Water Distribution license level three (3) or higher from the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation along with a Class "C" wastewater collections license in water distribution and wastewater collection systems from the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation. Possession of a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with combination vehicle, tanker, and air brake endorsements as issued by the State of Florida. Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Driver's license must not have been suspended within five (5) years of the date of this application (Not Insurance related ). Installs, maintains, repairs and replaces water and sewer lines and auxiliary fixtures such as hydrants, meters and valves; repairs adjacent landscape or roadways at completion of project. Cleans joints, gaskets and ends of pipes; repairs leaks or breaks on all sizes of water and wastewater lines; clears around holes after repair. Locates and exposes utility services in order to prevent damages to equipment. Performs routine maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment; maintains inventory of tools and supplies on service truck. Responds to service calls and checks water and sewer lines and fixtures for proper functioning. Reads blueprints and engineering schematics to locate water and sewer lines and fixtures; checks water and sewer lines for breaks and infiltration through the use of flow meters, dye tests, smoke tests, etc. Raises, replaces and repairs meter boxes and valve boxes. Answers customers complaints, locates service lines, detects leaks, excavates and repairs service lines. Taps new water and sewer lines into existing lines. Drives truck and operates high pressure cleaning equipment and/or rodding machine for cleaning manholes and sewer lines. Operates backhoe and related heavy equipment used in water and sewer line repair and maintenance. Operates air hammer to break asphalt and pavement; repairs asphalt and pavement. Operates a variety of pumping equipment and generators. Loads and unloads pipes at storage area and work sites. May keep written documentation of work hours performed and materials used.

$100/per pay period (through end of fiscal year 2026) Health Insurance 100% paid by the Town for single coverage, 50% paid by the Town for dependents.
