Position Offered By A No Fee Agency Spherion Gainesville, FL has a well-established, local client seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator to complete technical work in the operation and maintenance of an Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility. The ideal candidate will like the night shift, be a team player, safety-focused, and detail-oriented.

Pay Rate:
$21.50
Responsibilities:
  • Operate the Water Production Facility and Wastewater Treatment Facility in a safe and effective manner.
  • Record all required instrumentation readings, review data and take corrective action based on analysis.
  • Perform required laboratory sample collection and analysis, take corrective action based on analysis.
  • Monitor the status of facility systems, change processes from automatic operation to manual operation as necessary.
  • Perform required system checkout procedures and calibrations.
  • Adjust equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • data entry, logbooks, checklists, lab and calibration sheets etc.
  • Perform routine cleaning and painting of all facility systems: buildings, tanks, equipment, flumes etc.
  • Operate and maintain sludge de-watering equipment.
  • Maintain plant operation and security status weekends, holidays and after normal working hours.
  • Routinely drive business vehicles.
  • Provide tours of the facility.
  • Perform preventive and/or repair maintenance on assigned equipment necessary for plant operations with the assistance of and in cooperation with maintenance and instrumentation personnel.
  • Complete related duties as assigned.

AM Skills:
  • Experience managing wastewater treatment plan operations and regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA and environmental safety standards
  • Leadership experience supervising plant operators, maintenance staff and contractors
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and process control systems
  • Excellent record keeping, reporting and documentation skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations and operational disruptions
  • Experience improving plant efficiency, and operational performance
Education:
High School Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
  • Walking to customer/trouble locations
  • Moving and lifting weights such as ladders, tools and equipment which are extremely heavy with assistance
  • Climbing, frequent reaching above shoulders, heavy lifting, kneeling, repeated bending, repetitive pulling/pushing
Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of appropriate experience
  • Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience
  • State of Florida Class E operator license.
The employee must have a valid driver's license to drive their personal vehicle or a company vehicle as required by the employer to various worksite locations.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current class C wastewater operator certificate in accordance with Florida Statutes 403.101 and 468.540 552 and Regulation 61E1241, F.A.C.
