Job Description

Vision Coverage Vacation & Sick Accruals available after 30 days Defined Contribution Retirement Plan with a 9% City contribution 13 Paid Holidays The purpose of this position is to perform skilled and semi-skilled in the installation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater systems. This job works under close supervision according to set procedures. The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Participates in a pro-active inspection, cleaning, and maintenance program to maintain compliance and prevent overflows. Inspects wastewater collection system for proper operation and condition. Assists with inspecting and maintaining lift stations as assigned. Participates in the installations of a wide variety of pipeline fittings and pipeline repair components. Performs installation of manhole rings and covers and demonstrates ability to adjust manhole ring and cover to grades as needed. Repairs and installs manholes and any other sanitary sewer components. Completes restoration of construction and repair areas, to include installing sod and patching asphalt and concrete as assigned. Relieves or clears sewer system blockages. Responds to wastewater emergencies per procedures and training to ensure protection of public health, property, and the environment. Assists in locating utilities as assigned. Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduation or GED equivalent. No prior experience required.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. Successful completion of testing for Florida Wastewater Collection Certification Level "C" OSHA 10 and Confined Space Training

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs medium to heavy work that involves walking, shoveling, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, and pushing, and raising objects and also involves exerting between 30 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
