DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Which are not in any hierarchical order)) 1. Repair, troubleshoot and complete maintenance tasks for facilities, pumps, motors, and water and/or wastewater treatment plant equipment, lift stations and storm water structures. 2. Participates in the repair and installation and start-up of pumps, motors and other related equipment. Operates trucks and construction and maintenance equipment as necessary to complete work projects; checks equipment for proper servicing, operation and safety and reports defects to supervisor; maintains inventory of tools and equipment. 3. Plans and participates in regular preventive maintenance such as checking and lubricating bearings, gear boxes, checking and replacing filters, cleaning out wet wells, packing pumps, changing out rotating assemblies; changing out valves; changing out gears; troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs parts or equipment due to failure; dismantles and overhauls various equipment; cleans, replaces and repairs gauges, engines, and other equipment; repairs valves, pumps, impellors, and re-packs pump; paints equipment. 4. Operates a wide variety of equipment and tools including boom trucks, measuring devices, computers, generators, etc. 5. Installs temporary traffic control as needed. 6. Performs a pre-job briefing prior to the commencement of work if there are two or more people present. 7. Maintain maintenance records in the computerized maintenance management system. May input and recall information into a computer terminal. 8. Uses proper tools for the maintenance and repair of wastewater, water, storm water equipment 9. Observes standard operating procedures and safety practices. 10. Responds to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and works outside normal working hours. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned. Salary $23.17 Hourly - Pay grade 49 Excellent benefits! Qualifications High school diploma or GED (education will be verified using the "Education Requirements" listed below) and two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pumping systems, wastewater treatment, water treatment, storm water systems, or any equivalent combination of training and experience A current and valid Florida driver's license is required. For application purposes, a valid driver's license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized; with the ability to obtain the State of Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days from date of employment. A current and valid Class B Commercial Florida driver's license may be required depending upon assignment.
Education Requirements :
To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by: a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a), b), or c), above, for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a), b), or c) above. International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements.
Special Driving Requirements:
Have not lost any driving privileges by reason of revocation, suspension or denial of license, or have been convicted and/or had an adjudication withheld of three or more moving violations or, Have not had one DUI (Driving Under the Influence) in any preceding twenty-four (24) month period. License suspension of two weeks or less or suspensions based only on non-moving violations that have been cleared will not automatically result in revocation of driving privileges. Have not had more than one DUI (conviction or adjudication withheld) in Florida or any other state within the past ten (10) years Additional Details The selection process for this position may consist of any, all or a combination of the following tests: evaluation of training and experience, written examination, structured oral interview or other assessment method.
State of Emergency:
When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration by the Mayor that a state of emergency exists, all employees will be deemed critical by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work. Employees deemed critical by the City but not needed for the initial preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail may be directed not to report to work, and given paid administrative leave or they may be reassigned to another location that best meet the needs of the City.
