Job Description

Overview •This is a seasonal position. Employment ends by October.•The City of Lebanon is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Part-Time Municipal Water/Wastewater Maintenance Operator . This position assists with the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of the City's water distribution and wastewater collection systems, as well as general groundskeeping and maintenance activities throughout the community. The ideal candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently while supporting the Public Works Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure including water mains, valves, hydrants, lift stations, and sewer lines. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities. Assist with water main breaks, sewer backups, emergency repairs, jetting, and utility locates. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery related to municipal utility maintenance. Perform mowing, trimming, landscaping, and general groundskeeping duties on City-owned properties and facilities. Assist with street repairs, excavation, and restoration related to utility work. . Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed. Maintain accurate records of work performed. Follow all applicable safety procedures and regulations. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience in municipal water, wastewater, construction, landscaping, or public works preferred. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and light machinery. Valid Illinois Driver's License required. Ability to obtain applicable Illinois EPA water/wastewater certifications preferred, but not required. Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform manual labor for extended periods of time. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Schedule and Compensation Part-time position with flexible scheduling based on departmental needs. Some evening, weekend, and emergency call-out work may be required. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour , depending on qualifications and experience. This position has the potential to become a full-time position in the future based on departmental needs and employee performance.
