Job Title:
Facilities Wastewater Technician Shift:
2nd Shift (3pm-11:15pm)

JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for maintaining wastewater treatment plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain waste water treatment plant (Checks every 30 minutes)
  • Coordinate, prepare and ensure accuracy of all compliance reporting as set forth in applicable regulations or Permits. Submit to the appropriate management representative for final review.
  • Maintain daily operating logs.
  • Develop standard operating procedures as necessary.
  • Conduct research and develop correspondence as necessary.
  • Coordinate the storage, and disposal of all waste oils, greases, solvents, and chemicals used or discarded by NDI.
  • Report discrepancies to appropriate management representatives.
  • Assist with proper identification of all waste streams.
  • Assist waste haulers with documentation and loading of wastes.
  • Assist with conducting environmental audits.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for NDI personnel.
  • Assist with all environmental compliance efforts.
  • Assist with research and development of various environmental programs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES
  • IDEM Wastewater License Class A or higher, preferred.
  • Wastewater experience preferred.
  • Maintenance experience required to assist with pump and equipment failure.
  • Preferred 3-5 years of experience performing EHS operations in a manufacturing environment or equivalent education required.
  • Experience with governmental reporting, environmental permitting and hazardous waste operations are preferred.
  • Must be familiar with the terms:
HYDROXIDE PRECIPITATION, COAGULATION, FLOCCULATION.
  • Must understands the concept of pH ADJUSTMENT and its impact on the above terminology.
  • Ability to work in a mechanical environment and using various hand tools (i.e. wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.)
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to work with limited oversight.
  • Must have strong computer skills (including MS Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
:
  • Stamina and endurance: Ability to stand, walk, bend and twist to perform tasks for extended periods.
Strength:
Capable of lifting and moving equipment or materials (often 50 lbs or more).
  • Manual dexterity: Skilled in handling tools, valves, and small components.
  • Balance and coordination: Navigating wet, uneven, or confined spaces safely.
  • Visual acuity: Reading gauges, meters, and identifying leaks or issues.
  • Tolerance to environmental conditions: Working in noisy, odorous, or outdoor settings.
