Job DescriptionNineStar Connect is seeking a Water & Wastewater Apprentice Operator to join our Wet Utilities Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and learning a skilled trade that protects public health and the environment. As a Water & Wastewater Apprentice Operator, you will work alongside certified operators to learn the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, distribution systems, and collection systems. Through on-the-job training and formal coursework, you'll build the knowledge and experience necessary to earn Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) certifications and advance your career in the utility industry.
What You'll DoAssist certified operators with daily operations and maintenance activitiesLearn water and wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and regulatory requirementsPerform hands-on tasks including cleaning, lifting, digging, and basic maintenance workObserve and assist with sampling, testing, chemical handling, and process monitoringAttend operator school and required training programs to prepare for IDEM certificationMaintain facilities, buildings, and groundsFollow all safety procedures and company policiesSupport additional operational and maintenance activities as assignedQualificationsRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentValid Indiana driver's licenseAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamStrong attention to detail and commitment to safetyWillingness to attend training, operator school, and industry-related educational programsAbility to travel occasionally for training and professional developmentPreferred Skills & InterestsMechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilityInterest in water, wastewater, utilities, or environmental servicesBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applicationsStrong communication and problem-solving skillsDesire to learn and grow within a skilled trade professionWorking ConditionsThis position is ideal for individuals who enjoy active, hands-on work.
