Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated Water Distribution System Operator to join our team, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of water distribution infrastructure. This role involves managing the daily functions of water delivery systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and maintaining the integrity of water treatment and distribution processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, technical skills, and a commitment to public health and safety. Duties Operate and monitor water distribution systems, including pumps, valves, and control systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS). Conduct routine inspections of pipelines, tanks, and related equipment to identify maintenance needs or potential issues. Perform equipment repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance. Collect data on water flow, pressure, quality, and system performance for analysis and reporting purposes. Manage heavy equipment operation necessary for construction or maintenance activities within the water distribution network. Assist with water treatment processes, including chemical dosing, filtration, and wastewater management. Conduct basic math calculations for measurements, dosage adjustments, or system calibrations. Support plumbing tasks related to system repairs or upgrades. Engage in heavy lifting tasks safely during infrastructure repairs or installations. Document operational activities accurately and maintain detailed records for compliance audits. Requirements Proven experience operating heavy equipment and performing equipment repair within a water or wastewater treatment environment. Mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, plumbing systems, and control systems such as PLCs and DCS. Familiarity with water treatment processes and wastewater management practices. Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for system adjustments. Strong analysis skills for interpreting data collected from system monitoring tools. Knowledge of construction practices relevant to infrastructure maintenance or upgrades. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols. Valid tanker endorsement or experience with tanker operations is preferred. Basic understanding of plumbing systems and routine maintenance procedures. Excellent attention to detail coupled with strong organizational skills.

$20.02 per hour
