FSQA Supervisor Technical & Operational Skills- Understanding of produce wash water systems (flumes, spray washers, dump tanks)
- Operation and monitoring of water sanitization systems (chlorine, SmartWash chemical)
- Ability to monitor and adjust sanitizer concentration, pH
- Preventive maintenance of pumps, filters, sensors, dosing systems, and valves
- Calibration and verification of testing equipment (pH meters, ORP meters, test kits)
- Troubleshooting equipment failures and water quality deviations Food Safety & Regulatory Skills
- Knowledge of FSMA Produce Safety Rule and Preventive Controls requirements related to wash water.
- Understanding of microbial cross‑contamination risks in wash water systems
- Ability to follow and document Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
- Awareness of GFSI standards (such as SQF,) related to wash water controls
- Proper implementation of corrective actions when limits are exceeded
- Recordkeeping accuracy for regulatory and audit purposes Quality & Monitoring Skills
- Continuous monitoring of wash water parameters during production
- Documentation of results and verification records
- Understanding of critical limits and operating limits
- Participation in validation and verification activities
- Trend analysis and escalation of recurring issues Safety & Chemical Handling Skills
- Knowledge of safe handling, storage, and use of food‑grade and sanitation chemicals
- Understanding of chemical concentrations, dilution requirements, and dosing systems
- Ability to read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and manufacturer instructions
- Proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (gloves, goggles, aprons, respirators as required)
- Safe handling of common wash water chemicals (e.g., chlorine, peracetic acid, quats, detergents, acids, and alkalis)
- Awareness of chemical incompatibilities and prevention of cross‑mixing
- Accurate measurement and verification of chemical levels using approved test kits or meters
- Proper labeling and identification of chemical containers and secondary bottles
- Spill prevention, containment, and basic emergency response procedures
- Compliance with FSMA, OSHA, and facility chemical safety policies Communication & Team Skills
- Clear communication with QA, sanitation, and production teams
- Ability to report deviations and equipment issues promptly
- Training support for line staff on wash water practices
- Attention to detail and accountability Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in produce packing or fresh‑cut operations
- Mechanical or maintenance background
- Basic computer skills for electronic recordkeeping
