Water/Wastewater Operator

Full Job Description Job Overview Join our team as a Water/Wastewater Operator and become a vital part of ensuring clean, safe, and reliable water and wastewater services. In this energetic role, you'll operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment and wastewater facilities, ensuring compliance with environmental standards. Duties Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant systems, pumps, motors, and related equipment. Collect and analyze water and wastewater samples. Record operational data and maintain accurate logs and reports. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on plant equipment. Adjust treatment processes to maintain regulatory compliance and optimal performance. Respond to alarms, emergencies, and equipment malfunctions. Assist with laboratory testing and process control activities. Follow all safety procedures, policies, and environmental regulations. Participate in on-call rotations, weekends, holidays, and emergency response as required.

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license. State Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification (Class [

I/II/III/IV

]) or ability to obtain certification within a specified period. Knowledge of wastewater treatment principles, mechanical equipment, and safety practices. Ability to read gauges, meters, technical manuals, and operational reports. Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred:

Previous experience in municipal wastewater treatment operations. Experience with SCADA systems and computerized plant controls. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and stand or walk for extended periods.
