Job Description

WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATIONS SPECIALISTBAY COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF WATER & SEWER
The Bay County Department of Water & Sewer is seeking resumes from qualified persons for a Water Treatment Plant Operations Specialist at Bay County Department of Water and Sewer. This is a full-time union position. The current opening is for a midnight shift operator. Water Treatment Plant Operations Specialists will work a mix of 12-hour, 8-hour, and 4-hour shifts in a 4 days on with 3 days off schedule. The current opening starting time is 12:00am, midnight. This shift earns shift premium and lead pay on top of the base wage. The annual base salary for this position starts at $51,417 and progresses to $59,987 over 24 months, based on the 2026 fiscal year wage scale. Excellent fringe benefits include Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance plans, 13 paid holidays, paid sick and vacation, a defined benefit pension plan, and tuition reimbursement.
Qualifications include:
High School Diploma. Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) F-4 Water Treatment operator certification preferred. Bay County DWS will pay for certification renewals and continue education for EGLE certifications. One year of laboratory, chemical process, or environmental experience preferred.
