Job Description

Shakopee Public Utilities has an opportunity in the Water Department for a Water Operator. A Water Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing water treatment and distribution equipment, such as pumps, valves, and pipes, to ensure a safe, reliable supply of drinking water. They also perform daily monitoring, laboratory testing, and system maintenance, such as hydrant flushing and water sampling, to ensure compliance with drinking water standards and requirements. Operators perform water main repairs, provide construction inspections, water main and service line locating, backflow device testing and water meter repair and replacement.
Wage Range:

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and 1-5 years experience in water system operations or equivalent field preferred. Valid State of Minnesota Class D Driver s license Water Supply System Operator License Class D from MN Department of Health or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire, Class C within 42 months of hire and Class B within 78 months of hire Operates and maintains water production and distribution facilities and equipment. Accurately records water pumping and chemical feed information Performs locating water mains, valves and water services Provides inspections of new water mains, services, leak repair and appurtenances On-call - Responsible to be on-call on a rotational basis. Ability to respond to emergency callouts as required, within 30 minutes Responding to customer s concerns and inquiries in a timely and professional manner Ability to lift up to 50 pounds while utilizing required safety equipment
