Example of duties to be performed: Maintenance and repair of treatment equipment. Collect and test water samples. Add chemicals. Ensure important safety regulations are met. Record data and read gauges.
Work environment:
Typically work outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical aspects include a lot of walking, bending, stooping, crawling, crouching, lifting, pushing/pulling. Exposed to noise from machinery, unpleasant odors, malfunctioning equipment, confined spaces, and heights. Typically work during the day, in addition to being on-call for a one-week period and perform weekend rounds based on a rotating schedule. Occasionally may have to respond to after-hour emergencies, such as sewer backups/water main breaks. Will be required to communicate with a variety of audiences - from consumers to regulatory agency staff; therefore, must provide a high level of customer service and ability to handle situations using tact and diplomacy. High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with clean record. Possess Class B CDL or ability to obtain. Strong mechanical knowledge and skill to replace/repair related equipment - meters, sewer/water lines, pumps & blowers; therefore must have experience with various hand tools (screw drivers, wrenches, shovels, etc.) Required to live within a 10-30-minutes of facility. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills to prioritize the workload, meeting established deadlines. Strong commitment to providing professional customer service to our clients to ensure we are meeting our contractual obligations and following city ordinances. Embrace a team environment through communication, assisting where needed outside of your normal day-to-day, and asking for assistance when needed, etc. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Wage depends on qualifications and experience.
