Job Overview We are seeking a reliable, mechanically inclined Water Well Pump Technician to join our field service team. In this role, you will be the face of our company, diagnosing and servicing residential, agricultural, and light commercial well water systems. This is a highly active, hands-on trade role perfect for individuals who enjoy troubleshooting complex problems, working outdoors, and delivering essential water solutions to our community. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of pump systems and associated equipment.
Responsibilities System Installation:
Set up and configure residential, agricultural, and commercial submersible pumps, jet pumps, and booster systems. Diagnostics & Repair:
Troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, and electrical faults using multimeters, flow meters, and pressure gauges. Component Replacement:
Install and replace pressure tanks, control boxes, pressure switches, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and down-hole piping. Well Service Operations:
Operate pump hoists and pulling units to safely extract and lower pump assemblies from water wells. System Testing:
Conduct accurate well yield tests, draw-down tests, water flow checks, and collect water samples for laboratory testing. Trenching & Piping:
Excavate, repair, and glue underground PVC, copper, and galvanized water lines from the wellhead to the pressure tank. Customer Communication:
Explain diagnostic findings to homeowners and business owners, present repair options, and provide accurate on-site job estimates. Documentation & Compliance:
Complete clear service logs, inventory usage forms, and billing paperwork digitally or by hand after every job. Safety & Maintenance:
Keep the company service truck clean, organized, fully stocked with inventory, and strictly adhere to OSHA and electrical safety protocols. Qualifications Driver's License:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record ( Required ). Physical Ability:
Able to lift 75-100 lbs regularly and work on your feet all day in demanding physical environments. Weather Resilience:
Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, including freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and high winds. Mechanical Aptitude:
Strong hands-on experience using basic hand tools, power tools, pipe wrenches, and electrical testing equipment. Problem-Solving Skills:
Excellent critical thinking skills to safely troubleshoot live electrical circuits and high-pressure water plumbing systems. Communication:
Ability to speak professionally with customers and write clear, legible job notes. Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent trade school certificate. Preferred (But Not Required) Qualifications Industry Experience:
1+ years of experience in pump service, plumbing, well drilling, water treatment, or agricultural mechanics. Electrical Skills:
Basic understanding of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems, control boxes, and multimeters. Pay:
