Water Utility/Supply Operator Aztec, NM 87410 $20.19 - $25.30 an hour - Full-time $20.19 - $25.30 an hour - Full-time Overview Join our dynamic team as a Water Utility/Supply Operator and become a vital part of ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of water services. In this energetic role, you will operate and maintain water treatment facilities, distribution systems, and water treatment plants. Your expertise will help safeguard public health and protect our environment while supporting community infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply mechanical skills, technical knowledge, and hands-on problem-solving in a fast-paced utility environment. Duties Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to monitor and control water treatment and distribution processes. Conduct routine inspections, equipment repairs, and preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, tanks, and heavy machinery. Collect data on water quality parameters, flow rates, pressure levels, and system performance for analysis and reporting purposes. Manage heavy equipment operation including backhoes and dump trucks. Perform construction activities related to infrastructure upgrades or repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Troubleshoot mechanical issues in water treatment systems, install new services, and maintain distribution system. Assist with water treatment processes by adjusting chemical feeds, monitoring filtration systems, and maintaining system integrity through regular maintenance. Qualifications Proven experience with equipment repair, heavy equipment operation, or construction within a utility setting. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and automation technology used in water treatment facilities. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with basic math skills for calculations related to flow rates, chemical dosages, and system measurements. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and conduct routine maintenance tasks involving plumbing or mechanical components. Excellent analysis skills to interpret data collected from various monitoring devices and troubleshoot issues effectively. Familiarity with water treatment processes and the operation of related equipment is highly desirable. Valid driver's license is required; willingness to operate heavy machinery required.
