Job Description

Position Summary Bass Environmental is seeking a qualified Plant Supervisor - Wastewater Treatment to grow the team and oversee daily operations of wastewater treatment and environmental processing activities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of
HAZWOPER
experience and at least two (2) years of leadership experience in a waste processing plant or related industry. Key Responsibilities Operations & Supervision Supervise daily wastewater treatment plant and waste processing operations, including treatment systems, chemical handling, sludge processing, and discharge activities Provide direct leadership to plant operators and technicians, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient work execution Schedule staff, assign work, and monitor performance to meet operational and regulatory requirements Maintain staff education/qualification compliance Coordinate equipment maintenance, lockout/tagout activities, and plant shutdowns
OSHA & HAZWOPER
Compliance (Audit-Ready Focus) Enforce compliance with
OSHA 29 CFR 1910
, including: 1910.120 (HAZWOPER) 1910.147 (Lockout/Tagout) 1910.134 (Respiratory Protection) PPE, hazard communication, and confined space standards Implement and maintain site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASP) Verify all employees maintain current 40-hour

training and required annual refreshers Conduct and document: Daily safety meetings and tailgate briefings Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) Routine safety inspections and corrective actions Maintain accurate OSHA compliance records, including training logs, incident reports, and corrective actions Act as a key facility representative during OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory audits or inspections Environmental & Wastewater Compliance Ensure compliance with wastewater permits (e.g., NPDES or pretreatment permits) Oversee wastewater sampling, monitoring, and reporting activities Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes Review waste profiles, manifests, and shipping documentation for regulatory compliance Emergency Response & Incident Management Lead emergency response activities related to chemical spills, releases, wastewater system upsets, or safety incidents Ensure emergency equipment, spill response supplies, and eyewash/showers are inspected and functional Investigate incidents and near-misses and implement corrective and preventive actions Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of

experience in wastewater treatment, waste processing, environmental services, or industrial operations Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a waste processing plant or related industry (e.g., wastewater treatment, hazardous waste, industrial environmental services) Current 40-hour
HAZWOPER
certification with documented annual refreshers Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations Ability to maintain a facility in constant OSHA audit readiness Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and basic computer applications Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Physical & Work Requirements Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators (medical clearance and fit testing required) Ability to work in industrial, outdoor, and confined-space environments Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Willingness to work extended hours or weekends during emergencies or plant upsets Preferred Qualifications Wastewater treatment certifications or state operator licenses Confined Space Entry Supervisor training First Aid / CPR / AED certification Experience supporting or leading OSHA or EPA inspections Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Bass Environmental is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing a safe, compliant, and respectful workplace.
