Job Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, ensures plant and equipment are operating in accordance with regulatory standards; monitors and makes adjustments to plant operations as directed by treatment goals and regulatory requirements and works on an assigned shift and duties as required ; collects water samples and performs chemical and microbiological analysis; maintains laboratory equipment; operates computer to prepare and maintain records and documents; repairs, adjusts, inspects and maintains Water Treatment Plant (WTP), water towers, pumping station, wellfields, and machinery; requisitions repair parts, lubricants, and supplies; plans and organizes repair and maintenance activities; logs maintenance activities; orders and maintains inventory; rebuilds equipment and machinery, troubleshoots, and performs preventive maintenance; works and coordinates with onsite contractors. Relief operates the WTP on various shifts as required.
Qualifications:
Completion of secondary education with additional education, training and/or experience which evidences an advanced knowledge of Water Treatment Plant operations with the ability to operate and maintain related equipment; perform maintenance, and repair activities; to include electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and metal working/fabrication; use of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition SCADA software, ability to use PC software (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook). Possession of a valid Ohio EPA Class 1 Water Supply Operator Certification, or higher certification, or a current OEPA Class 1 Water Supply Operator in Training Certificate permitting Class 1 licensure within 12 months. Any employee within the Bargaining Unit interested in the Position of Operator, Water Treatment Plant within the Public Works Department may submit a letter of interest, a Resume, and any other documentation (certifications, certificates of training, etc.) for consideration of promotion or transfer to this position. Any Non-Bargaining Unit Employee seeking a lateral or Non-Promotional Transfer may also apply in the same manner as a Bargaining Unit Employee.
